Mirroring timeless Moroccan riad architectural form, Golden Avenue’s dining floor is set away from the bustling city streets among lush interior gardens.
Golden Avenue utilises multiple wood ovens and coal grills. Housemade breads are cooked to order and mezze prepared within an energetic open plan kitchen.
The new brutalist structure, designed by J.AR OFFICE, respectfully departs from its heritage neighbours, offering a verdant counterpoint from the high-rise city streetscape.
Hummus done the Golden Avenue way—smooth and citrusy with a hit of heat from the grill, made from Ord River chickpeas and topped with smoky chermoula cuttlefish.
“This venue brings a new cuisine to the group while staying true to the Anyday experience: warm, vibrant, welcoming, and built around the joy of hospitality.”
There is an abundance of fresh air natural light throughout the spaces.
Adjacent to the restaurant is Golden Avenue’s bar, GA.
An abundance of skylights, tiled surfaces and textured render soften the internal environment.
Tucked just off the street in Brisbane’s CBD, the Golden Avenue courtyard dining floor feels like a world away.
Golden Avenue settles into Brisbane’s CBD as the Anyday group’s first city-centre restaurant, conceived as a humming, living space where smoky charcoal, vibrant sounds, rich aromas and lush garden terraces come together.
Designed by Jared Webb of J.AR OFFICE, the venue sits within a low-rise, historically preserved pocket of the city, its brutalist-inspired structure softened by skylights, tiled surfaces, textured render and garden terraces.
Mirroring timeless Moroccan riad architectural form, Golden Avenue’s dining floor is set away from the bustling city streets among lush interior gardens, shaped by genuine hospitality and designed for long lunches, lively dinners, and everything between.
Golden Avenue is the seventh opening for Anyday, renowned for iconic venues Agnes, sAme sAme, hôntô, Biànca, LOS bar and most recently Idle, all located across Fortitude Valley, New Farm and the James St precinct.
‘Expanding into Brisbane’s CBD marks an exciting and purposeful step forward for Anyday, bringing our style of warm hospitality into the heart of the city. This venue brings a new cuisine to the group while staying true to the Anyday experience: warm, vibrant, welcoming, and built around the joy of hospitality,’ says Anyday co-owner, Tyron Simon.
Returning to his culinary roots, Ben Williamson, Anyday’s co-owner and culinary director, leads the Levantine charge with skill and a depth of knowledge in both Middle Eastern and wood fired cuisine, ‘My past work in Middle Eastern cuisine is what really brought Tyron and I together in the first place. It’s also been long enough (since 2018) for me to miss it, and I still hear encouragement from people I meet that loved my past work. I’ve given into demand and nostalgia—it’s a fun vibrant cuisine type, which makes it perfectly suited to be our first offering to the CBD,’ says Ben.
Golden Avenue centres its menu around multiple wood ovens and coal grills, with housemade breads cooked to order and mezze prepared in an energetic open-plan kitchen. The aromas, and the theatre of an unfamiliar, highly visible cooking process, become part of the experience.
Highlights include charcoal-grilled king prawns with black lime and ghormeh sabzi; kibbeh nayyeh with urfa chilli and sheep curd; wood-baked John Dory with preserved lemon; and desserts spanning luqaimat (Lebanese doughnuts), refreshing bites of Lebanese mochi, and a baklava mille-feuille.
