Portsea Beach Shack is nestled within Portsea, at the very end of the Mornington Peninsula. Originally a somewhat tired, yet timeless and classic weatherboard cottage, the interior has been reimagined by Edwina Glenn into an idyllic family-friendly getaway, replete with joyful patterned wallpaper, eclectic vintage furniture and soft mint coloured walls, which are mixed with modern design pieces.

Inside, the eclectic beach shack is incredibly cosy, yet also cut with the modern contemporary design pieces and luxury conveniences—including custom designed wool rugs by Edwina Glenn from Carpets By Design, Japanese Shigaraki pottery by Kazari Ziguzagu and check wallpaper from Elliott Clarke.

Edwina worked closely with the homeowners for the design of the cottage, who were keen to make the location a low-key luxury stay, where comfort is key and nothing too precious to enjoy. The focus was on revitalising each room without changing the existing floorpan. The finishes and decorative elements are layered: think aged brass, patterned wallpaper, check rugs, cane furniture, feature lighting and sisal mats.

You can choose to stay within the cosy interior and just simply relax or head out to the local sights. There’s a tennis court and swimming pool on the property and if you decide to venture out, there are beautiful beaches (perfect for surfing!), a world class golf course, local hot springs, and also Point Nepean National Park, which is just metres from the doorstep.

Portsea Beach Shack is available for short-stay bookings, the perfect escape for a mini break by the beach!
